Born in Zagreb on 17 March 1939.
Graduated from the University of Zagreb School of Medicine in 1964.
After completing internship, started working at the Institute for Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation in Zagreb. (This institute later became the Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation Clinic of the “Dr. Mladen Stojanović” University Hospital, today the “Sestre Milosrdnice” (Sisters of Charity) University Hospital).
Completed residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation in 1970.
Worked in the Department for the habilitation and rehabilitation of children with developmental disorders. Appointed Head of the same department in 1973. In addition to the Department Head position, appointed Head of the Polyclinic for children with developmental disorders in 1974. Held both of these posts until April 2004.
Defended her doctoral dissertation, entitled “Early and super-early rehabilitation of children with deviations from motor development” in 1979 at the University of Zagreb School of Medicine.
Appointed Senior Research Fellow at the University of Zagreb School of Medicine in 1980. Appointed “Primarius” the same year.
Appointed Professorial Fellow at the University of Zagreb School of Medicine in 1982.
Appointed Assistant Professor at the University of Zagreb School of Medicine in 1985. Taught the following course: “Physical medicine and general rehabilitation.”
Appointed Associate Professor at the same university in 1987. The same year, appointed Expert on physical medicine and rehabilitation in the Republic of Croatia.
From 1981 to 1997 headed a number of projects (at the “Sestre milosrdnice” (Sisters of Charity) University Hospital and the University of Zagreb School of Medicine) including the following: “Correlations between risk factors and deviation from neurophysiological development” (1981 – 1985), “Correlation of brachial plexus palsy with clinical signs of damage to the central nervous system in newborns” and “Correlations between risk factors and deviation from neurophysiological development in high-risk children” (1986 – 1990), and “Brachial plexus palsy in children and associated findings” (1992 – 1997).
Founded a private clinic for physical medicine and rehabilitation in 1997.
Established the Polyclinic for physical medicine and rehabilitation – “Prof. Milena Stojčević Polovina, M.D., PhD” in Zagreb in 2000.
Published 172 papers.
Delivered 147 lectures at medical and medical scientific conferences.
